ABOUT
Scottish Castles, Historic Landmarks and Spectacular Scottish Scenery
Handcrafted ceramic artwork, drinks coasters, mugs, cards and prints produced from original watercolour paintings and pen and ink drawings by Alastair M Carmichael.

Wherever you travel around Scotland you will come across the most breathtaking scenery, castles and historical monuments reminding us of the past turbulent history of this beautiful yet wild country. Alastair has a passion for Scottish history and has over many years visited, researched and painted some of the most iconic castles and historic sites around Scotland.

My name is Karen Soar and both myself and Alastair have spent over 20 years exploring Scotland and it's abundance of historical places, in particular the Western Isles, where we have a house in Carloway on the Isle of Lewis. Inspired by the wild landscape of the Atlantic coastline, magnificent Harris hills and ancient sites such as Callanish, Alastair has produced some atmospheric paintings, and together we have created a range of ceramic wall tiles, coasters and box frames, the latter utilising some of the beautiful patterns and colours produced by the island's Harris Tweed weavers. Oh, and as seen below the art director always has the final say on what is produced!

We are quite willing to take on bespoke and exclusive work, and currently have a range of items which will be exclusive to National Trust for Scotland from 2020 in their visitor centres at Bannockburn, Culloden, Glencoe, and Glenfinnan, as well as exclusive items for Kilmartin Historical Museum in Argyll. The full range of Callanish Standing Stones items is also available in the Callanish Visitor Centre.

Any of the images can be produced as coasters, wall tiles or box frames and we can try to incorporate the tweed colour to suit your requirements. Just leave a message and we will get back to you.
